The act of Seva, or service, is the responsibility of all members of a community. At Chinmaya Mission Buffalo, we strive to give back to our local community, as well as to the world at large. Read more about our activities below, and please contact us if you would like to get involved!
Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development (CORD) is a secular non-profit that aims to build the organizational and operational capacity of village groups to run their own activities in an integrated, participatory and sustainable manner while augmenting their income and enabling natural resource management by the villagers.
Chinmaya Buffalo's first annual walkathon to raise money for CORD was held on October 3rd, 2010 at the Maple / North Forest Bike path in Amherst. We raised $1880 and allocated the funds to go to Cord Kaza, also called Chinmaya Vijaya, an orphanage for girls in Andhra Pradesh, India. The most recent annual report for Kaza includes details on their mission.
